The
Maya’s senior session had such a fun mix of personal details, casual outfits, city settings, water photos, and warm summer fields. We started the afternoon at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, Washington for hair and makeup before heading into downtown Vancouver. From there, we moved through several different locations before finishing the evening in Ridgefield during sunset.

Our first stop was downtown Vancouver, where Maya wore her Skyview High School cheer uniform. I always love including something that represents a senior’s high school experience, and this was such a meaningful way to start her session. The downtown streets gave us a clean city background while still keeping the focus on her cheer uniform.

For her next look, Maya stayed downtown and changed into her letterman jacket with a white top and jeans underneath. A letterman jacket is always such a good choice for senior pictures because it feels personal to your high school years while still working well with a casual outfit underneath. This gave us another school-inspired look before changing up the setting.

From there, we headed to one of my favorite glassy window locations. This spot works especially well in the summertime because the early evening light reflects beautifully off the windows. Maya wore a light pink top with denim here, which fit perfectly with the clean, modern background and gave this part of the session a completely different feel.

We stayed with the city setting for another casual look, this time with a black tube top and jeans. I loved how simple this outfit was because it showed that senior pictures do not always have to feel dressy. A few everyday outfits can make the gallery feel more personal and relaxed.

Next, we headed to one of my favorite water locations. Maya changed into a jean skirt, and we were able to get her right into the water for a few fun photos, including some with her kicking through it. This added movement to the session and gave us a completely different setting from the city locations earlier in the afternoon.

At the same water location, Maya changed into jean shorts for another casual summer look. I love being able to use one location in more than one way, especially when a quick outfit change can make the photos feel completely different. The water was perfect for these relaxed summer senior pictures before we headed out for sunset.

As the evening moved closer to golden hour, we made our way to the tall grassy fields in Ridgefield, Washington. Maya wore a blue and white floral dress for this part of the session. The open field and tall grass were such a nice change from downtown and the water location, and the light was starting to soften beautifully.

For her final look, Maya wore a white dress with boots, and it was the perfect way to finish the evening. We stayed in the Ridgefield fields as the sun dropped lower, giving us that warm summer glow that works so well for senior portraits. Ending in the tall grass gave the session a soft, relaxed finish after all the variety earlier in the day.
If you’re planning senior photos in Vancouver, Washington or Ridgefield, Washington, using a mix of city locations, water, and open fields can give your gallery a lot of variety. Bringing outfits that reflect different parts of your personality also helps make the session feel more personal, whether that means a cheer uniform, letterman jacket, casual denim, or a dress for sunset.
Maya, thank you so much for trusting me with your senior photos. I loved getting to photograph everything from your Skyview cheer uniform downtown to those final sunset photos in Ridgefield. Congratulations on your senior year, and I hope you always love looking back at this session.
