Jade’s Senior Photos in Vancouver Washington

Columbia River High School | Vancouver Washington Senior Photographer

Jade’s senior session was one of those fall evenings that reminded me why this season is one of my favorite times of the year for senior portraits. Fall brings cooler temperatures while still giving us beautiful summer-style scenery, making it the perfect combination for comfortable sessions and gorgeous backgrounds. The warm light throughout the afternoon and into sunset created the perfect setting for a senior gallery filled with variety.

We started the session at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, WA before making our way into downtown Vancouver for the first part of her senior pictures. Downtown Vancouver is one of my favorite places to photograph because it offers so many different backdrops within just a few blocks. From modern architecture to reflective glass buildings, it’s easy to create several completely different looks without traveling far.

For her first outfit, Jade wore a brown top with jeans as we photographed along several glass window locations downtown. The clean reflections and modern architecture gave these portraits an urban feel while keeping the attention on her. It was a simple outfit that paired perfectly with the city surroundings and created a timeless look.

Next, she changed into a leopard print top for another series of portraits around different glass window locations. Even though we stayed in the same general area, changing both the outfit and the backgrounds added a surprising amount of variety to her gallery. I always encourage seniors to bring multiple outfits because small changes can completely transform the look and feel of their portraits.

After wrapping up downtown, we headed to one of my favorite little lake locations in Vancouver. Jade changed into a white long sleeve shirt with jeans as we photographed near the rocks lining the edge of the water. The peaceful setting was a nice contrast to the city, and the calm water helped create a softer, more relaxed atmosphere for this portion of the session.

As the sun started getting lower, we moved into a tall grassy field where Jade wore a pink and white dress. The golden light filtering through the grass created that classic sunset glow that so many seniors love. The soft colors of her dress worked beautifully with the warm tones of the field, making these portraits feel bright, natural, and full of fall color.

For the next outfit, Jade changed into a short white dress as we photographed in a nearby hay field. The shorter grasses and backlit sunshine gave these portraits a completely different feel while still keeping the warm, glowing light that makes sunset sessions so special. It’s always amazing how two nearby locations can each bring something unique to a senior gallery.

We finished the evening along the Columbia River, where Jade wore a flowing white maxi dress. The sandy shoreline created an almost beach-like setting, while the river and clouds stretching across the horizon added beautiful depth to the background. As the last light of the day faded, this location gave us the perfect ending to an already incredible session. The soft colors, open space, and peaceful atmosphere created some of my favorite portraits from the evening.

One of the things I enjoy most about photographing senior sessions in the fall is how much variety we can fit into a single evening. We can combine urban locations, lakes, grassy fields, and waterfront scenery while still enjoying comfortable weather and beautiful sunset light. Jade’s gallery is a perfect example of how different locations and outfits come together to tell the story of this exciting season of life.

Jade, thank you so much for trusting me with your senior portraits! It was such a fun afternoon exploring Vancouver together and creating a gallery that reflects your personality and style. I hope you have an amazing senior year at Columbia River High School, and I wish you nothing but the best in everything that comes next!
