Ella’s Senior Photos in Vancouver Washington, Pearson Airfield, and Ridgefield Washington

Every senior session tells a different story, and Ella’s was one I won’t forget anytime soon. Along with celebrating her senior year, she wanted her photos to reflect something that has become a huge part of her life: flying. Since she’s working toward her pilot’s license and hopes to become a pilot after graduating from flight school, it was important to include her airplane in the session. Her dad is also a pilot, making these images even more meaningful for their family.

We started the afternoon at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, Washington before making our way through several locations around Vancouver, Pearson Airfield, and Ridgefield. One of my favorite parts of planning senior sessions is building a gallery that includes different scenery while still feeling connected from beginning to end. This session gave us everything from colorful downtown streets and aviation portraits to peaceful riverside views and glowing fall fields.

Our first stop was one of my favorite locations in downtown Vancouver. Before the session, I checked to see if the maple trees had turned their usual deep red, and thankfully they had. Bright red leaves covered the ground, creating the perfect autumn backdrop. Ella wore a multicolored sweater that fit beautifully with the season, and the rich colors made these portraits feel warm and inviting.

Next, we headed to Pearson Airfield for one of the most personal parts of the session. Ella changed into a pink dress and brought along her airplane. She also wore aviator glasses for a few portraits before climbing into the cockpit and posing beside the plane. These photographs celebrated more than her senior year. They documented the dream she has been working toward for years and the path she hopes to follow after graduation.

I always encourage seniors to include something meaningful during their session, whether it’s a sport, instrument, hobby, or future career. Those details make the gallery unique and often become some of the family’s favorite images. For Ella, incorporating her airplane created portraits that truly reflected who she is and where she’s headed.

After leaving Pearson Airfield, we made our way to the rocky river where Ella stayed in her pink dress. The warm evening light reflected across the water and created a peaceful setting that looked completely different from our earlier locations. The soft color of the dress paired beautifully with the natural landscape, giving this part of the gallery a timeless feel.

As golden hour continued, Ella changed into a flowing cream-colored dress. We photographed in tall grasses surrounded by warm fall color as the sunlight filtered through the field. The movement of the dress worked perfectly with the gentle breeze, adding softness and motion to the portraits. Sometimes the simplest locations become favorites because the light does so much of the work.

For the final outfit, Ella wore a black and white off-the-shoulder knit sweater with jeans. We stayed in the open fields as the sun dropped lower, giving us beautiful golden light to finish the evening. Ending with a casual outfit gave the gallery another look while capturing her personality in a relaxed setting.

One thing I enjoyed most about this session was how every location represented a different part of Ella’s story. The bright red leaves celebrated her love for fall, Pearson Airfield reflected her future career goals, the river added quiet natural scenery, and the grassy fields gave us the perfect way to end the day with warm sunset light.
