Cannon Beach Senior Photography Shootout

A couple weeks ago was the Cannon Beach Senior Shootout, which was hosted by Ike & Tash, True Moua, Spanki Mills and Christina Ramirez and was absolutely phenomenal! As always in the Pacific Northwest, you’re never sure about when it’s going to rain… We lucked out with maybe the BEST WEATHER I’ve ever experienced while at Cannon Beach! While it might have been a little cold for our Texans in the group, us PNWers were absolutely loving the warm, sunny day. 🙂

I headed out from Portland, OR and after driving through a little bit of rain to get there, the skies opened up to clear weather for the rest of the day! The models were all awesome to work with and were part of Ike & Tash’s amazing Street Team. Props to them for letting us photograph them for a day! What I loved most about the shootout was being able to experiment with different shooting styles. I forced myself to use different lenses that I normally wouldn’t to get a different look to my photos and provide a more editorial/lifestyle feel to some of them. It was great to have a no pressure shoot and push my limits.

Thank you to Tash for your open heart; it was so great to finally meet in person and cannot wait to see you again soon at the PUSH Conference. You, Ike and Wisdom are doing life right! I also (unsuccessfully) tried the Spanki Mills method of shooting, but am so thankful for her pushing me out of my limits and forcing me to shoot wider than I normally would while incorporating motion and telling the senior’s story. True and Christina, thank you for putting together a great stylized concept at the beach and it was so fun to finally meet you and get to shoot with you all in person! PS: Sorry about not finding your tree branches!!
