The
Battle Ground High School | Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington Senior Photographer
Fall is one of my favorite times for senior photos around Portland, Oregon, and Amyia’s session had so many of the things I love about this season. We started the afternoon at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, Washington before heading into Portland and later making our way toward Lake Oswego for sunset.
For this session, we planned several outfits and locations so Amyia could have a mix of casual senior portraits, downtown backgrounds, fall colors, tall grasses, and sunset photos. The changing leaves were especially beautiful that afternoon, giving us plenty of warm color from the beginning of the session all the way through the final red dress.

Our first location was one of my favorite Portland neighborhoods to photograph in during the fall. Amyia wore a knit sweater with star details, jeans, and Converse for a casual look. The neighborhood was filled with fall color, and the leaves gave us a great seasonal background for her first set of senior photos. I love starting with a comfortable outfit like this because it helps the session feel relaxed right away.

Next, Amyia changed into a green sweater, and we photographed against a brick wall in downtown Portland. The brick added texture and gave this part of the session a more urban feel. Her green sweater also stood out nicely against the warmer tones around us, giving her gallery another look while staying close to our other Portland locations.

For her next outfit, Amyia wore a black long-sleeve top with a patterned skirt and black boots. We found a Portland location surrounded by orange fall leaves, which worked so well with the darker colors in her outfit. The leaves were one of my favorite details from this part of the session and made it clear just how beautiful Portland can be for fall senior pictures.

Later in the afternoon, we traded the downtown scenery for a more natural setting. Amyia changed into a grey cardigan with jeans, and we photographed in tall grasses. This location gave us a softer background and a completely different feel from the brick walls, sidewalks, and colorful trees we had used earlier.

As the light became warmer, Amyia added a denim jacket over a floral dress. The mix of the floral pattern, denim, and natural setting worked beautifully for the later part of her senior session. Having several outfit options is such a great way to add variety, especially when we are moving between urban Portland locations and the natural scenery around Lake Oswego.

We saved Amyia’s red dress for the very end of the session, and the timing could not have worked out better. The surrounding fall colors were gorgeous, and the red dress looked beautiful against the warm leaves and sunset light. It was such a strong final look and one of those moments when the outfit, location, season, and light all came together perfectly.
One of my favorite things about Amyia’s senior session was how much variety we fit into one afternoon. We photographed casual looks in a colorful Portland neighborhood, used brick and urban scenery downtown, found orange leaves for classic fall portraits, and finished with tall grasses and beautiful seasonal color near Lake Oswego.
If you’re planning senior photos in Portland, Oregon, Lake Oswego, Oregon, or the Vancouver, Washington area, fall gives us so many options for creating a gallery with different looks. Colorful neighborhoods, downtown locations, tall grasses, and warm sunset light can all work together while still keeping the focus on your personality and style.
