The
Battle Ground High School | Portland Oregon and West Linn Oregon Senior Photographer
Maddie’s senior session was one of those evenings that kept getting better with every outfit change. She stepped outside the box with every look she chose, wearing outfits that most people wouldn’t normally wear every day. That extra effort made such a difference and gave her senior portraits a stylish, editorial feel while still looking natural and true to her personality.
We started the afternoon at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, WA before heading into Portland for the first part of her senior pictures. Our first stop was the Pearl District, one of my favorite places for senior sessions because it offers such a great mix of modern architecture, sidewalks, greenery, and clean urban backgrounds. Every block provides something a little different, making it easy to create a gallery with plenty of variety.
For her first outfit, Maddie wore a green top paired with a jean skirt as we walked through the boardwalk sidewalks of the Pearl District. This ended up being one of my favorite looks from the entire session. The soft afternoon light combined with the city streets created a fresh, timeless look that perfectly matched her style.
Next, she changed into a black top with mesh sleeves that tied together at the shoulders. It was such a fun fashion choice that added personality without feeling overdone. We photographed around some of the modern streets and architectural details nearby, creating images with a little more edge while still keeping everything clean and classic.
After spending time in Portland, we made our way to West Linn, OR for the second half of the session. One of the things I love about combining locations is how quickly the scenery changes. We went from an urban setting to peaceful outdoor locations, giving her gallery an entirely different feel.
Her next outfit was a blush pink and cream Free People dress that we photographed beside the water. The dress had beautiful texture and movement, which looked incredible with the natural surroundings. Every time the breeze picked up, the fabric added even more depth to the images, making this one of the standout outfits of the evening.
We continued with a white and blue floral dress in front of white barn doors. The simple background allowed the colors and details of the dress to stand out while creating bright, clean portraits that felt soft and classic.
As the sun moved lower in the sky, Maddie changed into a quilted Free People dress for photos in a tall grass field. The golden evening light was absolutely perfect, and the warm tones paired beautifully with the textures in both the dress and the field. This part of the session had a relaxed, natural feel that contrasted nicely with the earlier city portraits.
For her final outfit, Maddie wore a red dress with a sheer mesh outer layer. The extra texture gave the dress beautiful movement, especially during sunset. It was the perfect outfit to finish the session and created dramatic portraits that felt elegant without taking away from her personality.
One thing that really stood out during Maddie’s senior session was her willingness to wear outfits that felt a little outside her everyday style. Senior portraits are one of the few opportunities to dress up, try something different, and create images that feel a little more elevated. Those thoughtful wardrobe choices helped create a gallery with incredible variety while still feeling authentic to who she is.
Maddie, thank you so much for trusting me with your senior portraits! It was so much fun exploring Portland and West Linn with you while creating such a wide variety of images. I hope you have an amazing senior year at Battle Ground High School, and I wish you nothing but the best in everything that comes next!
