The
Serenity’s senior session was such a fun way to kick off her senior year. As a Class of 2025 senior at Ridgefield High School, she brought so much confidence and personality to her session. We started the day at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, WA for hair and makeup before heading into Portland, OR and Lake Oswego, OR for an evening filled with beautiful locations and incredible light.
One of my favorite parts about this session was that Serenity and I had already met before her senior photos. I had photographed her school’s volleyball photos earlier in the year, so it was great getting to see her again and spend the evening creating something completely different for her senior portraits.
We started in downtown Portland with a black top and jeans in a modern urban setting surrounded by concrete walkways and large glass windows. This location gave us a clean and stylish backdrop and was the perfect way to begin the session. Serenity looked completely comfortable in front of the camera, which made this first portion of the evening easy and fun.
For her next outfit, Serenity changed into a white top and jeans while we continued exploring the city. One of my favorite details from this location was the row of bright yellow umbrellas that added a fun pop of color to the background. Sometimes small details like that can make a location stand out and give a gallery a little extra personality.
After spending time in the city, we made our way toward Lake Oswego for a completely different look. Serenity wore a blue top paired with a white skirt as we photographed along the water’s edge. The lake provided a peaceful backdrop and gave her gallery a softer, more natural feel compared to the urban locations earlier in the session.
As the evening continued, we headed into the tall grasses for some of my favorite images of the day. Serenity wore a black dress that photographed beautifully against the warm tones of the field. The light during this part of the session was absolutely incredible. While there was a little haze in the air from nearby wildfires, it actually created the most beautiful golden glow throughout the evening.
We also photographed another outfit in the tall grass featuring a blue crocheted top paired with off-white linen pants. This combination fit perfectly with the natural surroundings and created a relaxed, timeless look that worked so well with the warm sunset light.
To finish the session, we visited a flower garden where Serenity wore overalls with a black tube top underneath. The colorful flowers added so much variety to her gallery and gave us the perfect location to end the evening. It was a fun and playful look that matched her personality perfectly.
One thing I always remind seniors planning their senior pictures in Portland, Oregon and Lake Oswego, Oregon is that unexpected conditions can sometimes create the best photos. The wildfire haze during Serenity’s session gave us some of the most beautiful golden light of the entire season, and it helped create a warm, glowing look throughout her gallery.
Serenity, thank you so much for choosing me to capture this exciting season of your life. It was so much fun spending the evening with you, and I hope you have an incredible senior year ahead!
