Makaila’s senior portrait session was an absolute dream! We ventured out to one of my favorite nature locations, a hidden gem with so much variety—sandy beaches along the Columbia River, golden grass fields, and rustic gravel roads. It was a bit of a drive and those potholes on the gravel road definitely made it an adventure, but it was all totally worth it for the stunning backdrops and incredible light.

We began the session by the beach in Portland, Oregon where Makaila wore a gorgeous pink dress that popped beautifully against the sandy tones of the riverbank. We also found a unique stick teepee near the water, which added such a creative and whimsical touch to her portraits. The Columbia River made for a calm and serene setting, perfectly matching Makaila’s soft and graceful style.

As the afternoon turned into golden hour, we moved to a field of tall grasses, where Makaila changed into a flowing white dress. The golden light filtering through the grasses was absolutely magical, creating warm, dreamy portraits that truly captured the beauty of the moment. This is one of my favorite times of day to shoot, and Makaila looked radiant in every frame.

To wrap up the session, we headed to a quiet gravel road lined with rustic fences. Makaila wore a stunning floral blue and white dress that paired perfectly with the countryside feel of this location. The textures of the gravel, the charm of the fences, and the soft glow of the setting sun gave these final portraits a timeless, classic look.
