The
Brennan’s senior session was one of those sessions where everything worked out exactly the way it was supposed to, even when it looked like it might not happen at all. The weather forecast had us watching the radar all day, and we almost ended up rescheduling because of the heavy rain. Luckily, the weather cleared just in time for his session, and we were rewarded with dry conditions and some incredibly soft light throughout the evening. These guy senior photos in Vancouver and Portland ended up being some of my favorite portraits of the season.
We started the day at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver, WA before heading into downtown Vancouver for the first part of Brennan’s senior pictures. One thing I always love about downtown Vancouver is the variety it offers in a relatively small area. We can go from modern urban backdrops to clean architectural details in just a few blocks, which gives seniors a lot of variety in their final gallery.
For his first outfit, Brennan wore a button-up shirt with dress pants while we photographed around downtown Vancouver. The black brick walls and large glass windows gave his portraits a polished and professional feel. It was the perfect way to begin the session and created a look that felt both classic and modern.
We continued with another dressier outfit featuring suspenders and dress pants near some of my favorite glass window locations downtown. The reflections and clean lines worked perfectly with his style and gave this portion of the session a completely different feel from the locations we visited later in the evening.
Next, Brennan changed into a more casual outfit with a black bomber jacket, dark jeans, and a red shirt that added a nice pop of color. We photographed around the steps and walkways in downtown Vancouver, which created a more relaxed look while still keeping the urban feel throughout the gallery.
For another outfit change, Brennan wore a neutral sweatshirt in a light concrete alleyway. One thing I’ve learned after photographing senior portraits for years is that simple locations often create some of the strongest images. The clean lines and neutral colors helped keep the attention on Brennan while adding even more variety to his senior photos.
We finished the session at Portland International Raceway, which was easily one of the most meaningful parts of the evening. Brennan is a race car driver, so it was important that we included something that reflected such a big part of his life. We photographed him on the racetrack wearing a black t-shirt and holding his racing flag as the sun started to set.
I always encourage seniors to include locations, hobbies, or activities that are important to them whenever possible. These details help tell the story of who they are during this season of life. Ending Brennan’s session at the track made his gallery feel personal and unique, and it was the perfect way to celebrate something he is passionate about.
The soft light from the clearing weather ended up creating some beautiful conditions throughout the entire evening. Sometimes the sessions that seem uncertain at the beginning turn into some of the best ones, and Brennan’s senior pictures were a great example of that.
Brennan, thank you so much for trusting me with your senior portraits! It was such a fun evening exploring Vancouver and Portland with you while creating photos that reflect both your personality and your passion for racing. I hope you have an incredible senior year and all the best in the future!
