Cheyenne’s Senior Photos in Portland and West Linn

Cheyenne’s senior session landed at one of my favorite times of the year. We planned it for early fall when the leaves around Portland were just starting to change, and everything came together perfectly. Between the colorful neighborhoods, wildflower garden, and open fields, we were able to create a gallery with so much variety while making the most of the beautiful fall colors.

We started the afternoon at Sean’s Studio in Vancouver before heading into one of my favorite neighborhoods in Portland. Every fall I look forward to photographing here because the streets are lined with trees that turn incredible shades of yellow, orange, and red. It’s one of those locations that feels completely different for a few weeks every year.

Cheyenne’s first outfit was a blue and white striped sweater with a black skirt and Doc Martens. It fit the neighborhood perfectly and gave the session a fun fall look right from the start. We spent some time walking through the streets before moving to a few nearby locations that gave us even more variety.

For her next outfit, she wore a blue top layered over a white floral shirt with jeans. We photographed around the city with string lights hanging overhead and colorful trees surrounding us. This is one of those locations where you can walk a block or two and find a completely different background, which always helps make the gallery feel fresh.

From there, we headed over to one of my favorite wildflower gardens. Cheyenne changed into a white shirt with a floral skirt, and it couldn’t have been a better choice for this location. The flowers added just enough color without taking attention away from her, and the garden gave us another completely different feel from the city.

As the evening went on, Cheyenne changed into a brown, beige, and orange striped sweater with a brown corduroy skirt. If there was ever an outfit made for fall senior pictures, this was it. The colors worked so well with the changing leaves, and everywhere we turned seemed to have another beautiful tree showing off its fall color.

To finish the session, we made our way to one of my favorite tall grass fields in West Linn. Cheyenne wore a cream long sleeve shirt with overalls, which gave the final part of the session a relaxed feel. The sun was beginning to set, and the golden light coming through the field was the perfect way to end the evening.

One thing I always tell seniors is not to be afraid to wear outfits that you might not normally wear every day. Senior pictures are different from everyday photos, and choosing clothes with texture, layers, and personality can make such a big difference. Cheyenne did an amazing job putting together outfits that fit every location, and they helped make her gallery feel unique from beginning to end.
