the vision behind

project

beauty

our mission

Started by Thomas Nguyen and quickly spreading to the SBP Senior Rep Team, Project Beauty began with a goal of redefining what true beauty really is and how beauty is portrayed on social media. So often teens are bombarded with imagery of what society perceives as beautiful. While this culture has always been around, social media has only amplified this effect and it has put this in the forefront of our teens’ daily lives. With Project Beauty, our goal is to bring natural, true beauty to the forefront of everyone’s social media and bring attention to the fact that teens do not need to look a certain way in order to be accepted by their peers and fit in.

Our mission: redefine how beauty is depicted on social media and to photograph seniors with no makeup and no retouching. The result are images that allow these teens to walk away feeling more confident, empowered than before and showcase what true beauty really is.

true beauty

"True beauty is the amount of kindness that lies in your heart. No matter your appearance, a person who exudes kindness and positivity upon the people around them, displays the purest form of true beauty. If nobody could see ones appearance, how beautiful would you believe your soul to be?"

"I think beauty does not have a definition; EVERYONE is beautiful in every way. The physical features of a person does not define your beauty, but it is so much more. There is no spectrum of how beautiful people are, but it's how much you learn to love. Through this shoot I learned to love ALL my flaws, you don't need to cover them up. No matter if you have flaws, learn to love all, and even your self. If you learn to love you'll look with your heart and not just at physical features or materialistic values you'll have the power and confidence to show your true beauty. You're beautiful through the power of love."

"To me, true beauty is about how you love someone when they never gave you anything or how you treat someone who couldn't give you what you want. It's your character and how humble you are even when you have everything you've ever wanted. It's knowing you are enough for yourself and to be proud of who you are. It's the way you speak and think and feel. It's the way you love and receive love. To me, it has nothing to do with a pretty face, but a pretty heart, mind, and soul."

"True beauty radiates from within. It's having a open heart and compassionate soul. True beauty comes from always striving to be the best we can be."

"Realizing your true beauty is one of the most essential and changing experiences anyone can have. Every single person has true beauty and being able to capture these simple yet amazing moments through portraits, portraying inner and outer beauty, is an experience that I am so eager to share. Share your true beauty too."

"True beauty is having the strength to be an individual. It comes from having the confidence to not always follow the crowd and it's okay to be different."

"The phrase true beauty means the inner elegance and grace each person uniquely possesses. Beauty is far more than what anyone can see from a glance, it can be the way a person may think or even the way they laugh. True beauty is not what everyone may see at first, It can brightly shine through or be a subtle glow but people need to look deeper than the makeup and clothes to see what makes that person truly beautiful. The best part is every individual has there own version of beauty, only the ones looking for it can truly appreciate it."

"One can perceive and acknowledge beauty only if their mind wants to, with a positive mindset, one can see beauty in everything and in all things. The best type of beauty is not the one pleasing to the eye, but the beauty of a person’s soul because physical beauty is temporary while inner self beauty is timeless."

"True beauty to me is confidence. To be confident in everything about yourself. There may be things you wish to change but that is no reason not to love yourself for exactly who you are."

"True beauty comes from within. It is shown through kindness and how you treat others no matter who they are. It is being comfortable with who you are as a person and all your imperfections. It comes from your heart and soul rather than shape, size, makeup or clothes. It is constantly working to be a better version of yourself. To me, this is what makes someone beautiful."

"You can see the real beauty in a person when they feel their most confident and their happiness is radiating on people around them."
